A fern (Polypodiopsida or Polypodiophyta /ˌpɒliˌpɒdiˈɒfɪtə, -oʊfaɪtə/) is a member of a group of vascular plants (plants with xylem and phloem) that reproduce via spores and have neither seeds nor flowers.

Pteris vittata, commonly known variously as the Chinese brake, Chinese ladder brake, or simply ladder brake, is a fern species in the Pteridoideae subfamily of the Pteridaceae. It is indigenous to Asia, southern Europe, tropical Africa and Australia. The type specimen was collected in China by Pehr Osbeck.

Asplenium antiquum is a fern of the group known as bird's-nest ferns. 
In Japanese it is known by ō-tani-watari and tani-watari.

Asplenium nidus is native to east tropical Africa, 
temperate and tropical Asia and in Australasia. 

Asplenium nidus can survive either as an epiphytal or terrestrial plant, 
but typically grows on organic matter. 

This fern often lives in palm trees or bromeliads, 
where it collects water and humus in its leaf-rosette. 
It thrives in warm, humid areas in partial to full shade.


Asplenium antiquum is an excellent, evergreen ornamental houseplant. 
This fern can grows up to 1 m wide and 1 m high. 
It has bright green, arching blades with a pointed end and a strong midrib.
It is great at filtering toxins from the air and 
produces a high level of oxygen.

It prefers moderate sunlights, 
a termperature in between 18°C - 24°C (or 65°F - 75°F), and
moist soil pH of 5.5 to 6.5.
