Even though they have water-storing characteristics in their leaves and stems which allow them to survive in dry habitats, they will certainly not thrive with little water.
Watering is an essential part of how well cacti or succulents grow.

GERMINATING CACTI SEEDS:
Care should be taken to prevent the pots from drying out from below. The majority of seeds germinate best at a temperature of 20 to 22°C (68 to 72°F).

Growth is slow, 6 to 8 weeks after sowing transplant to single small pots 7cm (3in) Grow on at 18 to 25°C (64 to 77°F) during daytime and 15 to 18°C (59 to 65°F) during the night. Cooler temperatures at the night are better for foliage pigmentation. Temperatures below 15°C (59°F) will result in leaf deformation. Echeveria does not tolerate frost. After 12 to 14 months transplant into a bigger pot.

The sowing of Anacampseros, Conophytum, Echeveria, Crassulaceae, Lithops, and Mesembryanthemum should not have a temperature above 20 °C until germination and should not be covered.
Dinteranthus requires up to 3 months to germinate.
